For underwater recording, the SME-MHSII is a high quality, low cost solution manufactured by Saul Mineroff Electronics, Inc. as per request from various oceanographic institutes. The omnidirectional device features a rugged waterproof 10-meter cable (other cable lengths are optional), that terminates with a standard 1/8" mini plug connector, and a frequency response of 1Hz-30kHz ± 3dB. The hydrophone contains a sensitive piezo ceramic pickup coupled by a SME wide band low noise amplifier fully encapsulated in a rust-proof/water-proof all metal case. No need for external power is required when using any of the digital/analog recorders that have microphone power input.
